School Leavers

At Kendal College we specialise in Further and Higher Education. We are a partner college of the University of Central Lancashire and the University of Cumbria.

The College is also a partner with all local schools in the South Lakes and Eden Valley where there is collaboration to ensure that high quality teaching and learning is available from Ulverston to Penrith, Appleby, Carnforth and Kirkby Lonsdale.

Our aim is to achieve high academic standards, to offer outstanding facilities, a broad range of courses and to give every student the chance to succeed.
Our College is student centred in its approach. We aim to enable students to realise their full learning and skills potential through an exciting, quality curriculum whilst also gaining valuable qualifications and experience that prepares students for the world of work or for higher levels of study.
Our tutorial support system means that every student will receive individual tutorials each term and progress is monitored throughout the year by tutors and managers.

Our full-time programmes include opportunities for students to broaden their College experience through a range of activities and work placements and to participate in sports, cross-college competitions and community and fundraising activities.

16-18 year old students also take Functional Skills, which form an important part in ensuring students develop the skills they need to move on. Functional Skills of numeracy, communication and IT are integrated into every full-time vocational course and these skills are key requirements for employers.

Welcome to a brighter future!

Throughout the year there will be opportunities for prospective students, parents, carers and employers to visit Kendal College and find out who we are and what we do.

Our open days offer the chance to look around our fantastic facilities and have an informal chat with specialist tutors to find out if Kendal College is the right choice. If you can't attend one of our open days, contact us to arrange a time to suit you.

You are welcome to call in to the College at any time during opening hours to meet with our Student Services Advisors who are available to help with any queries, whether it's a technical question about qualifications or a friendly chat about student welfare or finance.

At Kendal College we are constantly introducing new courses that respond to local and national employment needs. We continue to pioneer new programmes from entry to postgraduate level, which allow you to study locally and gain valuable and relevant qualifications.

A typical full-time course at Kendal College will require you to attend between two and four days per week, sometimes including work placements or practical workshops. If you are studying an apprenticeship, you will usually attend college one day a week.

Cumbrian Collaboration

The four Cumbrian Colleges - Kendal, Furness, Carlisle and Lakes College West Cumbria work closely to provide student activities throughout the year. Students take part in a range of exciting activities such as the Cookery Challenge and Lakeside activities, plus an annual equality and diversity challenge, all supporting the education and pastoral well-being of our learners.
