TweetKendal College in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 Section 2 (3) and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and all other relevant legislation, recognises and accepts its responsibilities to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all its employees and learners and to ensure that their activities do not adversely affect the Health and Safety of other people including contractors and visitors to the College’s premises.
The College will take all steps, so far as is reasonably practicable, to meet this responsibility paying particular attention to the management and provision of:

Detailed risk assessments in accordance with all relevant statute law and College policy

Relevant information, training, instruction and supervision

Record and investigate all incidents in compliance with the Reporting of Injuries, Disease and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) and College policies and procedures

Work in partnership with contractors to ensure safe working practices are adhered to

We will work with and monitor employers involved in Work Based Learning to ensure that common standards are in place
It is the responsibility of all employees, learners, contractors and visitors to act in an appropriate manner in preventing injury to themselves and others.
The College will encourage full consultation with employees and learners on Environmental, Health and Safety matters and will monitor reviews regularly.
Any safety representative appointed by recognised Trade Unions in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act will participate in this process. The Health and Safety Committee will meet once per term to jointly consult on all relevant issues and an annual health and safety report will be presented to College governors.
