Kendal College Re-accredited with Investors in People
4 June 2009
Kendal College was recently reaccredited with the Investors in People Award (IIP), marking its 10th anniversary as an IIP employer. The award is designed to recognise the the investment that companies make in their staff, the most valuable asset of any organisation.
The college is now striving towards the IIP's stringent new bronze, silver and gold standards, that are designed to allow select organisations like Kendal College to work above the IIP standards and continue to challenge them.
The college was praised for the manner in which it communicated its strategic objectives to all staff at all levels, ensuring that all staff understand the way in which their role relates to the wider aims of the college.
Anne Owens, IIP Assessor said: "What was apparent was the clear commitment to learning and development of all staff [at the college] and that everyone has fair access to the support they need.
"[In interviews with staff] frequent reference was made, for example, to 'providing excellence in everything that you do' and 'striving to be within the top 10% of FE Colleges'."
Head of Personnel, Julia Walsh, said: "We are absolutely delighted to receive reaccreditation for Investors in People for the fourth time running: which recognises the committment of all of our staff at the college to making Kendal College an outstanding organisation to work or learn in.
Kendal College employs over 190 staff in a variety of teaching, management and administrative roles, and supports them through a comprehensive system of professional development.
