Unemployed recently
or not worked for a while?

Our Skills for Jobs scheme can give you free skills training
for the local job market

If you live in Cumbria and are over 19 then Skills for Jobs can give you additional training, upskilling and support to prepare you for employment. The training can fit your needs and is linked to the jobs that are available in Cumbria. Skills for Jobs would be ideal for you if you have been made redundant recently, or have been out of work for some time, but not necessarily claiming benefits; for example if you are looking to return to work after raising children etc.

Unemployed for over six months?

With our Six Months Plus scheme we can give you the skills and confidence you need to get you back into work.

If you have been claiming benefits for more than six months, we understand how it can be difficult to get back into employment. that’s why our Six Months Plus scheme is designed specifically to give you the skills training and confidence to get back into the job market and start getting interviews for jobs that are available locally.

Graduate or Professional?

The Innovation Project can get you a 10 week paid placement
at a local company

Make your mark with a local company and add valuable experience to your CV with a 10 week project. You will be paid a wage at a local company and will have the opportunity to work on a project that may even lead on to permanent employment.

We can help with advice and guidance and free training that you might need and we will support you throughout your 10 week placement.

Stuck for childcare?

We have two nurseries at Kendal College that can provide childcare whilst you are training with us.
