If you are interested in the well being of others, then a career in health and social care could be for you. There is a large number of jobs in the health and social care sector, suitable for people with a variety of skills and qualities in the specialist roles of nurses, midwives, physiotherapists and the fields of dentistry, optometry, occupational therapy, chiropody, homeopathy, chiropractics and many more.
The College's department of Health and Social Care, judged Grade 1 by Ofsted, enjoys an excellent reputation and maintains strong links with local care industries, health providers and children's centres in the area. Achievement rates are consistently higher than the national average with very good progression to university. Many of our past students have started at Level 2 and have continued to degree level at Kendal College.
There are many other health jobs too. Examples include speech therapists, scientists, radiographers, auxiliaries, health care assistants, ambulance drivers and dental nurses. Almost one in ten people employed in the North West work in health-related occupations.
Why study at Kendal College?
All of our staff have extensive experience within the sector, and the College maintains close links with industry such as NHS hospitals, private and specialised hospitals, mental health trusts, nursing and care homes and rehabilitation centres, as well as the University of Cumbria's and the University of Central Lancashire's Health Studies Department.
