Engineering

Engineering underpins just about everything from transport to medicine and farming to space exploration. To meet all of these needs requires a vast number of engineers who can work in technical disciplines. The career opportunities are endless.

Engineering is about using creativity and innovation, based on a good technical background, to solve challenges that make our world a better place, whether it is maintaining existing technical systems, or designing new ones.
With environmental technologies being at the forefront of the new green economy, there are hundreds of jobs expected to be created in the next few years, both nationally and locally, which require people with the skills to support the aeronautical, creative, digital, food, farming, marine, mining and tourism related industries.

Why study at Kendal College?

The College invested in a high-tech Design Engineering Centre last year, which features similar equipment to engineering firms such as Gilbert Gilkes & Gordon Limited, including computer controlled milling machines, lathes and a 3D printer, which prints engineering prototypes out as solid plastic models directly from CAD drawings.

All departments have good links with industry and the teaching staff all have comprehensive industry backgrounds, and considerable investment ensures that the facilities are of a professional standard and that students have a varied introduction to the world of engineering. The engineering facilities at Kendal put it at the very forefront of technology and engineering training in South Lakeland and Eden.
