Performing Arts programmes have a long and successful history at Kendal College, propelling many students into performance careers. The course is taught through performing which means you are always working towards a production such as full scale plays to musicals and dance shows. You will be taught by industry trained professionals and outside practitioners from theatre and television.
The Performing Arts and Technical Theatre department at Kendal College has strong links with many North West venues, promoters, technical production companies and arts organisations including The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal and The Old Laundry Theatre in Bowness on Windermere. As a performance student you will not be required to undertake any production arts (technical theatre) work, although opportunities exist should you wish to pursue them.

Why Kendal College?
The College’s fantastic performing arts facilities include ‘The Box’, a £1.7 million dedicated performance space, which provides an exclusive venue for performing arts and technical theatre students. We believe that this gives our students a leading edge as the courses are mostly taught through actual performance. This includes industry quality preparation for full-scale plays, musicals, theatre tours, street performances and dance shows – all presented as professional productions. In addition to The Box, our Arts & Media campus is a vibrant, exciting, creative space filled with students practicing, performing and working together under the guidance of expert staff.
