Performing Arts and Theatre & Event Technology

Our Performing Arts and Theatre & Events Technology students work together to host a variety of productions throughout the year, including full scale plays, musicals and dance shows.

Performing Arts programmes have a long and successful history at Kendal College, propelling many students into performance careers. The courses aim to develop your performance skills in acting, dance and musical theatre. Throughout the year you will be able specialise in your preferred discipline or improve in all three ‘triple threat’ areas to a high standard. The course is highly practical with a focus on rehearsals and performance in all areas.

Our Theatre & Event Technology courses cover the technical aspects of production and the management of live performance, including set design, stage management and sound & light engineering. Students provide technical and production support for professional events, including the annual college musical at the Brewery, music gigs at Bootleggers and a number of local festivals e.g. Comic Arts Festival, Kendal Mountain Festival and Moonfest. The course is excellent for those who wish to work in the entertainment industry but do not want to perform.

The College’s fantastic performing arts facilities include ‘The Box’, a £1.7 million dedicated performance space, which provides an exclusive venue for performing arts and technical theatre students. In addition to The Box, our Arts & Media campus is a vibrant, exciting, creative space filled with students practicing, performing and working together under the guidance of expert staff.

Our Level 3 courses are directly equivalent to 3 A-Levels and enable progression to a wide range of university degrees and careers.
