Film & Photography at Kendal College
Watch the film video
Photography students will learn contemporary skills and working methods as well as traditional film-based techniques. They will form their own preferences and practices and manage a wide variety of creative, conceptual photography work to a professional standard. Experienced tutors work closely with students to ensure that they are always learning the latest techniques, using the most modern software and equipment. The College has fantastic facilities within the Art & Design department, so students get the opportunity to learn using a comprehensive range of the latest Mac-based professional studio software for design, digital imaging, video production, 3D computer modelling and animation. Film production students will also be able to capitalise on our established relationship with Kendal Mountain Festival – one of the leading adventure film festivals in the world – working closely with the Festival and its associates.
“I chose Film Production because Film is significant to all aspects of a global society; constantly presenting ideas and conveying messages across a diverse and seemingly endless range of subject areas. I want to be the author of those messages, and the course at College covered everything I had ever wanted to study regarding Film, whilst providing me with experience I then needed to get into the industry and use every single day. The teaching style on my course was motivated by passion for Film, therefore you knew that what you were learning was so beneficial because it came from those who’ve worked and loved the industry and want to pass that on to you. After completing this course, I went onto study a BA in Film Production at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Being able to do what I love will be my next goal in life.”
