Art & Design @ Kendal College

Experienced tutors work closely with students to ensure that they are always learning the latest techniques, using the most modern software and equipment. The College has fantastic facilities within the Art & Design department, so students get the opportunity to learn using our Print Studio, Ceramic Workshop, Textile Studio, MAC Suite, Metal Workshop and Wood Workshop. The courses are designed to offer an introduction to a broad range of specialisms and student students can then choose to specialise and hone their skills in a specific area. Our students are also encouraged to take part in competition events like the annual UK WorldSkills, where they have a proud history of individual and team success.

“After my A-Level results, I realised I had passion for Art, which I wanted to pursue, so I decided to give this course a go and haven’t looked back. The atmosphere at the Arts & Media Campus is very busy and lively and I like how you get exposed to different courses, for example, you’ll go out of your room and there could be drama students dancing or noise from the bands.

The course has thrown up lots of opportunities including visits to galleries in London, working on live projects with local graphic design companies and working to a brief to design posters for the drama and film department. The course is practical and hands-on so I am always busy doing something; from printing to photography, which encourages you to explore a range of disciplines.

After finishing the course, I am now hoping to get a Graphic Design degree at UCLan as I’ve enjoyed it so much that I just want to keep learning.”
