Animal Care

Working with animals can be a very rewarding occupation, with no two days the same. At Kendal College we are opening a wildlife rehabilitation and rescue centre, along with domestic animals to give you a full understanding of how to care for animals. Animal Care and management is a growing, billion-pound industry supporting 13,000 businesses and 78,000 employees nationally.

Why Study With Us?

The Animal Rescue Centre at Kendal College is unique in that we’re the only College in the UK to run a rescue and rehabilitation centre within a teaching department. If you choose to study Animal Care at Kendal College, you will experience a practical learning environment that is second-to-none. Working with animals can be an extremely rewardingprofession and the Centre has full veterinary facilities to take referral work from the RSPCA and other veterinary practices for wildlife, exotics and rescue cats. There is a small cattery, aviaries and hedgehog houses and you will have the opportunity to work with modern and sophisticated industry-standard equipment, including a digital x-ray machine.

Why Kendal College?

Kendal College started offering Animal Care and Animal Management courses in 2014. This coincided with the opening of a new Animal Rescue Centre, based on our Main Site Campus, which was the first of its kind in the UK. These fantastic new facilities enable our students to gain valuable hands-on practical experience in the clinic – assisting our qualified veterinary staff and nurses to look after and rehabilitate the rescue animals we take in.
