Craft and Construction
Construction companies make up 10% of all businesses in Cumbria and, according to research undertaken by Construction Skills, 76% of all employers have difficulty in recruiting trained staff. The College enjoys strong links with the construction industry and the lecturers have worked extensively within it in a variety of roles, bringing real-world experience to the programmes that they teach.
The construction industry is one of the major growth industries in the UK, with housing shortages fuelling demand for new residential developments and a constant demand for qualified craftsmen for domestic and industrial projects.
