Routers and Routing Essentials is the second course in the CCNA Routing and Switching curriculum, teaching students how to configure a router and a switch for basic functionality. Students follow the Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching curriculum which is designed for Cisco Networking Academy students seeking entry-level jobs in the ICT industry or fulfilling prerequisites in pursuing more specialized ICT skills. The curriculum provides comprehensive coverage of networking topics, from fundamentals to advanced applications and services, while providing opportunities for hands-on practical experience and career skills development.
What will I learn?
You will develop skills on how to configure a router, manage Cisco IOS Software, configure routing protocols and create access lists controlling access to the router. By the end of this course, you will be able to configure and troubleshoot routers and switches and resolve common issues with RIPv1, RIPng, single-area and multi-area OSPF, virtual LANs and inter-VLAN routing.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be via an online examination and through practical activities.
By the end of this course, you will be prepared to take ICND1 (Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1) exam which you can take in one of Pearson Vue Test Centres established across the country. On successful completion of this exam, you will achieve CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician) certification. This is the first step toward achieving CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Certification.
You must have either completed our pre-requisite course CCNA1-Introduction to Networks or have several years of experience/working in the networking field of the industry.
