The Lake District in October, with its’ spectacular autumn colours is a world class destination for landscape photographers and this luxury weekend tour takes full advantage of some of the best vantage points and hidden gems of Windermere’s Lakeside shoreline. This Leica Academy weekend is dedicated to the soft autumn light and rich colours of the October landscape. We will explore the spectacular viewpoint of Gummers Howe, perfect for wide angle panaramas or long focus detail shots, before descending to the National Trust’s Fellfoot Park on the lake shore, packed with richly coloured specimen trees, picturesque boat dock and excellent cafe, for lunch. The afternoon session will uncover one of Windermere’s forgotten treasures; secluded High Dam with its tarns and forest walks, with so many possibilities for autum colour studies and late afternoon “golden hour” sun on the tarns. Along the way we will discuss landscape technique, explore your Leica cameras’ optimal settings for close up and short depth of field studies and explain how to get the most out of your ND Grad and polarizing filters.
