Jewellery Making for Beginners

This course is an introduction to basic skills, including saw piercing, soldering, forming, stone setting and finishing techniques working in non-precious metals. This will be followed by 6 personal projects and further skills. Non precious metals are provided, however silver can be purchased by students with the guidance of your tutor.
You can expect to finish the course with at least 3 pieces of jewellery.
The course is suitable for complete beginners and those that have some jewellery making experience.
What will I learn?
An understanding of materials, techniques and processes used within jewellery making. And the practical aptitude to carry these out to produce pieces of your own design.
How will I be assessed?
There is an assessment unit. There is no exam. This programme is assessed through the creation of a portfolio of created work.
Progression on to Level 2 BTEC Art, Design & Media. You may also be interested in 3-D Design in Printed Textiles or Ceramics, L1 Graphic Design, Felt making or L2 in Fashion & Clothing.
