An introduction to Thermal Auricular Therapy (also known as Hopi Ear Candles), a pleasant and relaxing treatment for the ears.
Thermal Auricular Therapy or ear candles, has become a popular treatment in the natural therapy field. A pleasant non-invasive treatment that can be used to promote health and wellbeing.
Historically, forms of ear candling have been practiced for thousands of years. Practiced by many ancient civilisations, including the Aztecs, Greeks, Romans and Aborigines. The ancient Egyptians used reeds from the Nile coated with wax and packing mud around the ear.

What will I learn?
This qualification will enable you to provide safe and effective ear candling treatments to clients. You will also learn about the possible benefits of ear candling treatments and how to carry out safe and hygienic working methods. The VTCT Level 2 Award in Thermal Auricular Therapy is a specialist qualification that has been specifically designed to help develop your basic knowledge, practical skills and competencies in; how to provide ear candling treatments on clients.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment of practical skills will be at the training centre or designated workplace. Continuous assessment by means of written work, assignments and home practice will contribute to your portfolio of evidence. A learning plan with dates for assessment will be agreed by you and your tutor on enrolment.
There are a range of Beauty and Complementary Therapy qualifications at Level 2, 3 or 4 that can add to your range of treatments to offer clients.
