On the AS/A-Level Geography course, you will be in class for 4 and a half hours a week. You will complete the AS Level in the first year and the full A-Level in the second year.
The course includes a wide range of topics focussing on how human and physical processes have shaped our world. These will be taught through a variety of theory sessions, practical activities, fieldwork and multi-media resources.
The course can be taken in the following ways:
- Within KC Sixth with another two, possibly three A-Levels, tutorial and optional EPQ and Core maths
- As an ‘add on’ to a Full Time Level 3 Study Programme at the College, for example alongside a BTEC Extended Diploma
- As a stand-alone part-time course
How will I be assessed?
An A-Level in Geography, when combined with other A-Levels, or a Professional and Technical Qualification, may lead to further study at degree level.
Geography A-Level is well respected for enabling students to develop skills in writing and critical analysis. This is a valued background for many higher education / degree level courses.
Students may also progress from A-Level Geography into higher level apprenticeships in related areas such a conservation or land management.
The entry requirements for this course are:
5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above (A*-C) which must include Maths.
GCSE English Language and Geography at Grade 6 (or B).
