This 30 week course is based at our Arts and Media Campus on Beezon Road, Kendal.
You will have access to state of the art facilities including excellent performance and practice spaces, the outstanding recording studio and well equipped digital music suites.
It is ideal for musicians who are wanting to develop their musical performance skills, play in an ensemble, perform live and also meet and work with like minded individuals.
This qualification aims to help to acquire and develop fundamental practical skills, develop critical awareness and expand skills and knowledge relating to the music industry, with a view to progression towards further qualifications.
Vocalists, guitarists, keyboard players, drummers, and brass players are all welcome to form bands as part of this exciting new opportunity at Kendal College.
You will gain a Certificate in Performance Skills, Level 1.
The course focuses on music performance and has four units to cover:
- Preparing performing arts work
- Developing performance skills
- Presenting performing arts work
- Taking part in a performance
As part of these units you will get to play in bands or ensembles on our in house stage, plan and present performances and put together and perform a final showcase at a chosen venue.
Students will create a portfolio of work for assessment with the emphasis on practical skills.
Performance will be assessed through observation and audio/video evidence.
The course will culminate in a final showcase open to friends,family and possibly the public depending on the chosen location.
