AAT is the UK’s leading qualification and professional body for accounting and finance staff. This foundation level qualification is internationally recognised and you will learn key skills which are valuable to all businesses. Classes will include lectures supported by hand-outs, tutor demonstration and worked examples. This is followed by students working practical examples to apply new techniques and practices.
What will I learn?
The course assumes no previous knowledge of accounting and therefore starts with the basics of business and moves through the accounting system to the trial balance stage, enabling you to process business documents.
The units include processing bookkeeping transactions, control accounts, journals and the banking system, basic costing, working effectively in accounting and finance and the use of SAGE software to process accounting information.
How will I be assessed?
The units are assessed by a mixture of AAT computer based exams and tutor assessments throughout the year.
AAT is an internationally recognised qualification which is sought after by employers. Typical job opportunities include finance assistant, assistant accountant, purchase or sales ledger clerk and credit controller. This course is also useful for anyone starting to run their own business and doing their own books.
Following the successful completion of AAT level 2 students can progress onto the level 3 Diploma in Accounting.
This course is suitable for those starting a career in accounting. You should have four GCSEs at grade A*-D, including English, but please speak to the course tutor for guidance.
You must pay the membership fees (129 pounds) directly to AAT in order to enrol onto the course.
