Adult Learning

Whatever your needs and ambitions, at Kendal College we offer a wide variety of courses - some of which are specifically designed for
adult students - which can allow you to progress to employment, further study at a higher level or to fulfil lifelong ambitions. We recognise that many people have demands on their time which means that classes need to be available on a flexible basis. You can choose to study during the day, in evenings (night classes or night school), or even study from home with a limited number of our distance learning programmes.

There are many good reasons to return to study:

  • Ready to work again now that children are at school
  • Need a change of career
  • Did not get the qualifications you needed at school
  • Your job prospects are not what you want
  • You simply need a new direction

Whatever your age, whatever your hobbies, interests and ambitions, we trust you will find something of interest in this new course guide. We look forward to helping you choose the programme that’s right for you. For advice and guidance, or just a friendly chat about the College and how we can help call us on 01539 814700. If you are struggling to meet the costs associated with learning, then the Learner Support Fund or Adult Learner Grant could help to ease the financial burden. Please ask for details on how the College can help you to study.

We offer a wide range of courses to help you to progress in your own career and train for professional qualifications, accounting, marketing, management, office technology, childcare, teaching, hair and beauty to name but a few of the courses aimed at giving you the professional edge. For more information see our part- time course guide. If you didn’t get the qualifications that you wanted at school, or need to update your skills ready to get back into work, then now’s your chance. Many of our courses will help you get back into learning. Essential skills in maths, English and computing will ensure that you gain the skills needed by today’s employers. Progression opportunities in all subjects mean that you can join a programme at the level best suited to your individual needs. We can offer flexibility within our full- time programme of courses to fit in with your life and childcare needs and many of these courses are run over three days only.

This course is a full-time programme and you wil attend two days per week. The Access programme consists of a number of Level 3 and Level 2 modules.

A part-time programme may also be developed to meet your needs and credit may also be available for existing qualifications.

You won't need any specific qualifications to join the course, however, you must be over 19 years of age at the beginning of the course and be able to demonstrate tha tyou are ready for study at this level.

Students who gain the full Access to Higher Education Certificate will have the relevant qualifications to apply for a variety of degree programmes in business, information technology, social science and sport subjects.
