Learn for free this spring at Kendal College

09 Feb 2017

Kendal College has launched a range of special offers on part-time short courses for adults, many of which are completely free of charge.

Due to start over the coming months, the courses are varied and range from practical Building Maintenance, Carpentry, and Painting & Decorating Skills, through to developing creative skills in Art & Design, Illustration, Fashion & Clothing Design, and Producing Your Own Music.

There’s also a chance to learn to dance as well as finding out how to carry out repairs and maintenance on bikes, and learning some new beauty therapy techniques.

Some of the courses – most of which run one evening a week for between 4-6 weeks – also provide a recognised qualification on completion.

Taught by Kendal College tutors who have first-hand experience of working within the subject’s industry, the courses provide the opportunity to learn new skills to use at home or could even be a starting point for a complete career change.

Graham Wilkinson, Principal at Kendal College, said: “How many people at the start of a New Year say they want to do something different or learn something new? We’ve all been there but, too often than not, there are obstacles in our way such as cost implications and finding the time.

“Our job at Kendal College is to find ways to encourage more people to learn and to broaden their interests, so we’re trying out this range of discounted and free of charge courses at flexible times to fit around people’s existing jobs, childcare requirements, or just general busy schedules.

“It’s not a huge commitment as many of the courses only run for a few weeks, but they’ll give you the chance to learn a new skill, meet new people, shake off the winter gloom and just have fun!”

The courses take place at one of the College campuses in Kendal. All of the free and just some of the discounted courses are listed below with full details and prices available on the website at www.kendal.ac.uk/springsale. There are also hundreds of other part-time courses and Professional short courses available during the year.
