The Castle Dairy Restaurant & Apprenticeship Academy
The Castle Dairy Restaurant & Apprenticeship Academy offers a unique fine dining experience in one of Kendal’s oldest inhabited buildings.
The Castle Dairy restaurant offers so much more than just fine food and drink. From the moment diners set foot in one of Kendal’s oldest buildings, they are transported back to 14th Century Middle England with three unique and characterful dining areas to choose from. Oozing with medieval charm, from once-secret priest holes to an original four-poster bed that still occupies the first floor; the Castle Dairy is a truly unique dining experience.
Critically acclaimed Head Chef Robert Stacey leads a team made up of mostly dedicated and talented apprentices working toward gaining qualifications in hospitality. Since opening just over three years ago, the Castle Dairy has quickly established itself as an exceptional finishing school for Kendal College’s finest hospitality and catering students.
Food is fresh, seasonal, and local with a choice of menu options available including the ever-popular eight-course tasting menu. The chefs’ focus is on contemporary, imaginative, and flavoursome British fine dining, always showcasing the very best in seasonal produce with some even sourced from the team’s very own kitchen garden. Dishes are beautifully and creatively presented and service is friendly, attentive and professional at all times.
Open all year round, from breakfast through to 10pm, the Castle Dairy is the perfect venue to enjoy an intimate meal for two in front of atmospheric open fires in the colder months, jovial family celebrations in albeit quite quirky surroundings, or more formal business lunches or small meetings in the private dining rooms as, despite the original stone walls, free Wi-Fi is also on the menu!
